We can help you thrive in the global economy. With 3,000 legal staff operating from over 20 offices spanning Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia and the US, we can deliver whatever expertise you need, wherever you need it.

Because technical ability alone is not enough, we seek to build exceptional working relationships with our clients. By doing so, we are able to develop a deeper understanding of our clients' businesses, provide commercially astute, innovative advice and create better business outcomes for our clients.

We offer leading expertise to businesses that are impacted by the continuing uncertainties in global markets. Acting for some of the largest and most high-profile debtors, lenders and insolvency practitioners, we provide in-depth restructuring and insolvency expertise, alongside market-leading contentious practice support.

Our team is also recognised for structuring novel special situation financings, working with special situation funds and other alternative capital providers and for supporting lenders and investors on non-performing loan portfolio transactions and distressed investment opportunities. As such, we are trusted by a wide range of clients across many industries, most notably in the energy, commodities and mining sectors, something that truly sets us apart from our peers.

Our experience includes some of the most difficult and complex financial restructurings, including many of the biggest restructurings in recent years and a number of market 'firsts' including:

  • Advising Ernst & Young on the Nortel administration and CVAs- one of the biggest restructuring mandates in the world
  • Advising the lenders to North Sea Oil & Gas companies EnQuest plc in connection with the group's restructuring of its US$1.2 billion revolving credit facility , and the administration of FirstOil PLC
  • Advising hibu (formerly Yell) on its £2.3 billion debt restructuring

We are recognised by the leading legal directories (including a Tier 1 ranking in Legal 500 UK 2016) for our extensive restructuring and insolvency expertise, with our 'high-quality team' attracting praise for its 'ability to manoeuvre around difficult and conflicting stakeholders', and for its 'excellent oil and gas sector expertise'.
