Our annual award recognises excellence in turnaround and restructuring in the UK with less than 10 years industry service.
Criteria
This award is for those currently working in turnaround and restructuring in the UK who demonstrate exceptional performance and career development with less than 10 years’ industry service (the majority of which should have been spent in the UK market). The Judges will be looking for evidence of:
- service and achievements that both go beyond the call of duty, and exceed that expected of someone with less than 10 years’ experience;
- contributions which work towards improving good working practices in the industry;
- particular cases which showed innovation and commitment and resulted in benefit for the firm and / or clients; and
- a tangible commitment to the turnaround and restructuring industry beyond that undertaken in their normal working day
*TMA NextGen, the next generation of UK Turnaround Professionals, is tailored to those in the early stages of their career aged 40 and under.

Paul Davies
Paul Davies is a Business Restructuring and Insolvency Partner at James Cowper Kreston, who has a particularly focus on turnaround and restructuring and is President of the Turnaround Management Association UK from 1 January 2021. Paul has operated in restructuring and insolvency for over 20 years and his role incorporates debt advisory (particularly the alternative finance market), accelerated M&A, Board advisory, business reviews and stakeholder negotiations. Paul has recently worked in a number of sectors including food, hotels and leisure, construction and logistics. He was named Turnaround Professional of the Year at the 2017 TRI Awards. Paul is also a qualified insolvency practitioner and is licensed by the ICAEW to accept formal insolvency appointments in the UK.
Arjun Malhotra
Mr. Malhotra is an Investment Professional at Eicos Investment Group in London, focused on European distressed credit and special situations. Prior to his current role, Mr. Malhotra was a member of Houlihan Lokey’s Financial Restructuring Group with over a decade of experience in financial restructuring, special situations, valuation, and investment advisory.
Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Malhotra worked in financial restructuring and special situations at Perella Weinberg Partners, where he advised companies across the full capital structure as well as provided merger, acquisition, and defence advice. He started his career at KPMG UK, working in investment advisory.
Mr. Malhotra earned a Master of Engineering in Materials Science, Economics, and Management from Trinity College at the University of Oxford. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and is a full member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT).
Andrew Cawkwell
Associate Director and Head of Business Development for Manolete Partners PLC. Insolvency and Restructuring Solicitor and Certified Turnaround Professional (accredited by the European Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals (EACTP). National Board Director of the Turnaround Management Association (UK). Winner of Turnaround Restructuring and Insolvency award 2016 for "Turnaround Practitioner of the Year" and member of TRI 250 in 2021/22.
