Captain Katy Coulthard
Katy Coulthard is a British Army officer serving as a Captain in the Intelligence Corps. The Intelligence Corps is the intelligence gathering wing of the British Army. It is responsible for ensuring that political and military decision makers have the best available understanding of their environment, and that the British Armed Forces and its Allies have the best possible intelligence on operations. After emerging from a decade of campaigns in both Afghanistan and Iraq, today over a third of the Intelligence Corps is deployed or directly engaged in current operations in over 40 countries around the world.
After commissioning from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2012, Katy has deployed on two operational deployments in Afghanistan and Somalia, where she, and her team of analysts, provided intelligence support to senior multi-national military headquarters. Her career has also included an instructor role, teaching recruits their basic soldier training as well as further intelligence support to British Headquarters based in the UK and Germany.
Her current role as Corps Adjutant sees her as the Senior Corps Captain and responsible for the development and retention of young officers in the Corps. She is also Assistant Equerry to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.
