The Turnaround Management Association (TMA) welcomed Scott Y. Stuart, Esq., as its chief executive officer in July of 2018. From TMA headquarters in Chicago, he now leads the global nonprofit organization of 9,000 turnaround and corporate renewal professionals. With 52 chapters around the world, TMA members are a professional community that strengthens the global economy by working with distressed companies to improve performance, manage disruption, restructure through insolvency proceedings, and preserve equity with the goal of driving overall results. Stuart is an industry-leading attorney with more than 30 years of experience in restructuring, litigation, and distressed investment. He started his career with the United States Department of Justice with the Office of the United States Trustee. He has led law groups, acquisition models, and business development teams. Stuart headed the corporate restructuring group of Rivkin Radler LLP, was EVP and general counsel of TruFoods Systems, Inc., and headed national business development efforts for more than 10 years as the executive director of Donlin Recano. Before joining TMA, Stuart was the co-founder of a groundbreaking legal-tech start-up Esquify in the legal document review space. He has a proven track record of building, growing, and leading successful companies, from corporations to startups.
During the last 15 years, Stuart has held leadership and board positions with the American Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, and New York Institute of Credit. He also served on the board of Futures and Options, one of New York City's premier nonprofit educational organizations for high school students in the city’s underserved communities.
