TMA UK are delighted to be kick starting 2019 with their most popular event - Annual Turnaround Review / Preview event kindly hosted by GVA.

 

At this event we bring together a panel of experts from the Turnaround, finance and property markets to give their view on the main features of their market sector, a reflection on 2018 and looking at the year ahead.

 

This year's panel comprises:

About the speaker/s

Ros Goode - Regional Senior Director, London and National Head of Restructuring Solutions, GVA

Ros is Regional Senior Director for London and National Head of Restructuring Solutions, a team of 35 working across the UK.

Ros has worked within the real estate industry for over 30 years. She joined the GVA business as a graduate in 1986, and has been a dedicated member of the specialist and market leading Restructuring Solutions team since 1989.  Ros was promoted to lead the London team in 2013 and took up the role as National Business Unit Head in 2014.

Ros has operated through a series of property cycles culminating in the global financial crisis, a period of seismic events when real estate sat at the very heart of the lending challenges in the finance sector. The team dealt with over 4,000 Receiverships through the period. Unique amongst our peers we operate throughout the property cycle delivering support to our clients facing challenges in the ever changing market conditions combined with wider economic head winds.

Ros has a deep understanding of the GVA business and particularly the clients within her sector. She leads a team with unrivalled expertise to advise a valued client base of lenders, accountants, stake holders and private equity funds.

Responding to the needs of the market, Ros and her team are actively assisting lenders including traditional clearing banks, challengers banks, alternative funders and loan buyers in working with borrowers to address problem loans in a consensual process of restructuring, refinance or disposal.  The team are also very active in the retail market supporting IP’s advising on retail portfolios pre and post CVA, assisting on DD, valuation, market intelligence, lease advisory and disposal.

 

Clare Kennedy - AlixPartners

Clare guides and advises stakeholders of financially distressed companies. With more than 17 years of experience in the restructuring market, Clare acts for both secured lenders and other stakeholders across a number of sectors, with a particular focus on retail, leisure, and consumer products. Clare is a certified accountant and a licensed insolvency practitioner.

 

Advised the board of Agent Provocateur, overseeing contingency planning for the wind down of the global business across multiple jurisdictions ahead of an administration process and negotiating a sale of the business.

Advised landlord creditors of Toys R Us in respect of the impact of a property rationalisation process on their property interests.

Advised the board of Prezzo, a UK based casual dining business on the restructuring of the UK property portfolio.

Managed the administration of Austin Reed, a United Kingdom–based fashion retailer with more than 150 stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Russell Martin - Managing Director, Finance 4 Business

Having graduated from the Lloyds Bank Graduate Development Programme, Russell found his niche in commercial and corporate lending.  This led him to found Finance 4 Business, focusing on commercial and specialist finance.  Russell’s vision for the business saw the head office relocate to Birmingham City Centre in 2017. At the same time the Finance 4 Business Group evolved. The complimentary divisions include, Caliber - land, planning and development specialists; Walker Doble - new home sales; Innovation for Business - tax specialists; Liquidity Club – cash flow and asset based lending specialists.

Alan Ryall -Director, GVA

A Director within GVA’s national Restructuring Solutions team, Alan advises on property related restructuring matters on behalf of Corporates, Lenders, Accountants, Private Equity Houses and Public Sector Bodies.

 

Notable assignments in 2018 have included acting in an advisory capacity on behalf of a European headquartered manufacturing business, leading the strategic review of their UK portfolio. Advising the Administrators in respect of the Gaucho / Cau restaurant group as well leading the property due diligence on a number of retail and F&B related CVA’s.

 

Alan also leads GVA’s interim offering, having recently placed colleagues from the Restructuring Solutions team within companies in the professional services, higher education and energy sectors.

Nick Taylor - Gordon Brothers Retail & Consumer Products Division

Specialising in DIY Home Improvement, Department stores and Apparel store sectors, his experience spans across 22 European countries involving over €3bn of inventory in over 3,000 stores, Nick has led various country-based retail teams to successfully deliver projects for leading European retailers; each project requiring a unique retail-solution adding both enormous economic value and maximised cash-returns’ for his Clients, from under-performing assets.

Nick is a thoroughbred retailer who enjoyed over 25 successful years of senior, front-end Retail, Operational and Marketing roles within the Kingfisher Group.
