Ellis Jones are specialists in dealing with the mis-selling of debt, the excessive zeal of lenders in recovering their loans, and other lender misbehaviours, all of which can cause financial difficulties for borrowers. The morning’s session will be some law spiced with war stories and anecdotes. To end there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

William Fox Bregman
William Fox Bregman is our Partner, Solicitor and Head of Banking & Finance Litigation, striving to provide a city service at a regional cost. William acts for a wide range of commercial and individual clients who have been mistreated by financial institutions and specialises in all forms of financial mis-selling, including LIBOR manipulation, Rate Hedging Products mis-selling, high value injunctions, derivative litigation, RBS / GRG claims, HBOS Fraud claims, FCA regulatory issues, civil fraud and passport seizure orders and European enforcement and has recently expanded into other niche areas such as gambling claims.
Since the launch of the Banking & Finance department, William has guided his team of 14 employees to recovering over £55 million for clients nationally.
William continues to seek to constantly improve his team’s knowledge and expertise in order to retain the firm’s presence at the forefront of banking developments. Most recently William has been heavily involved in the RBS GRG Redress Scheme and the HBOS Reading Review. Both schemes have impacted hundreds of customers and William continues to assist clients in receiving successful outcomes. Our Solicitor, Caroline Palacio, covers a wide spectrum of legal areas including Insolvency, Crime, Commercial Disputes, Dispute Resolution and Regulatory Law. Caroline provides both practical and commercial advice to her clients that are involved in dispute and investigations with civil and criminal elements.
Caroline represents property developer clients in planning enforcement matters and is experienced in Trading Standards, Food Hygiene and Border Force investigations. She acts for company directors and sole traders in relation to insolvency related issues and also receives instructions from Insolvency Practitioners.
Robert Bajaj is Head of the Insolvency and Business Recovery team and a Consultant Solicitor. He is an experienced insolvency and dispute lawyer acting for a wide range of clients and also a specialist Property Dispute lawyer, with extensive experience in Commercial Disputes and Landlord and Tenant, and Land Disputes. Some of his recent work includes advising on a substantial property and finance solution on a London based development valued at £20 million and advising on the restructuring of a local property development company.
Robert is one of three Lawyers in Dorset who are members of the Property Litigation Association. Roberts’s knowledge in his field has been described in the Legal 500 as ‘amazing’ and considered ‘quick and efficient’.
Philip is a commercial barrister with particular expertise in insolvency, banking, property and professional negligence. He is an experienced advocate, appearing regularly in the High Court both as sole advocate and as junior counsel.
He has a busy practice advising on claims involving banks and financial advisors, share purchase agreements and breaches of warranty, shareholder and partnership disputes, commercial property disputes, civil fraud and economic torts. He also regularly acts in cases involving professional negligence that concern other areas of his practice.
