On 17th September, TMA NOW hosted their “Motivate NOW: Catalysing Connections” virtual workshop with guest speaker, Leadership Coach Yapincak Erkan, founder of Yasha Consulting and Training, focused on catalysing connections with energy and motivation. This was TMA NOW’s first ‘women-only’ event and a great success with women across the turnaround and restructuring industry, from associate to partner level, in attendance.

The event was organised by TMA NOW committee member, Emily Scaife, and Christina Lim, fellow TMA NOW committee member, kicked off the session with a few words on TMA NOW’s empowerment and inclusivity aims before introducing Yapincak as our guest speaker and host.

The workshop focused on topics such as self-limiting beliefs about attending typical networking events, ways to overcome these to make the most of events, the importance of re-evaluating both what you are seeking from these events and also what you believe you bring as an individual. With debate led by Yapincak, attendees discussed how current circumstances could actually provide an opportunity to reinvent traditional networking such that events can be tailored to fit busy schedules with the typical ‘evening drinks event’ becoming less relevant.

Breakout room discussions in smaller groups of 3-4 women then took place, with a shortlist of key talking points to help the conversation flow. Lastly, attendees reconnected with the wider group for the plenary and wrap up session. One of the many ideas shared included a suggestion for our next TMA NOW event – a recurring ‘coffee roulette’ session to provide an opportunity for attendees to meet again (virtually for now!).

Feedback from our attendees:

“The best networking based event I have attended”

“We discussed the challenges of staying connected with colleagues as we move to a mix of home and office working – we came up with some great ideas to stay connected and plan to roll these out with cross-firm groups!”

“Most enjoyable zoom call I have been part of – thank you to everyone for sharing views in a kind and considerate manner”

In our post-event survey, 100% of attendees agreed that the event was useful, found Yapincak to be an engaging facilitator and would like to see a similar recurring event in the TMA NOW calendar.

Thank you to Yapincak Erkan for leading an informative workshop with truly open discussion from attendees – the feedback speaks for itself!

TMA NOW’s mission is to help connect the industry’s leading women, provide opportunities for leadership development and improve networking skills. The TMA NOW committee looks forward to welcoming you to our next event – please look out for further details to follow.
