Last year, Construction Insolvencies were up 36% from 2019, the year preceding the Covid pandemic. The construction sector is currently the biggest contributor to UK company insolvencies and this is expected to continue throughout 2024.

The sector is facing a perfect storm of crises: high interest rates and low consumer demand for homes compounded by drop in civil engineering works, high borrowing costs, raw materials price increases, inflation and general market lethargy.

Many of these challenges are ongoing therefore construction businesses and homebuilders must remain vigilant. For those that do, there are plenty of gateways for support and paths to recovery.
