Nick’s own story is one of resilience and leadership. After pioneering a new technology he successfully sold part of his group of companies. During the sale he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. This life-altering experience deepened his understanding of life's unpredictability and the importance of coping with uncertainty. After brain surgery, his prognosis was just five years and he was told “don’t worry about a pension, you won’t need one”. To test whether he was still compos mentis, he enrolled for a MBA at Imperial College Business School where he graduated with honours.
With a short lifespan in prospect his next career was as an Interim CEO guiding many companies in London and New York through tough turnarounds and start-ups. Known for his ability to motivate and manage teams under pressure, he’s faced the highs and lows of the business world.
His next career was advising boards of directors and acting as trustee for Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, a celebrated charity in Maidenhead, and ARLIS, a charity focused on diagnostic genomic solutions.
His latest career is as a storyteller. As an international speaker, he has captivated diverse audiences, from corporate workshops, community events, keynotes, to schools and fundraisers, ranging from 15 to 15,000 people.
Nick shares his father’s story to show how each of us can make a significant impact in our organisations and the world. His presentations are tailored to ensure they resonate deeply with his audience, using powerful images and videos from the family archive.
Outside of work, Nick has a wide range of interests including current affairs, economics, opera (especially Mozart), mime, architecture, and exploring gardens and parks. He was trained in aerobatics by the RAF and once held a private pilot’s licence. He also enjoys travelling around Europe on his motorbike. Nick and his wife Dominique married in Prague, the city where his father started the Kindertransport.
Don’t miss the chance to hear Nick’s incredible story and insights on our upcoming programme. Tune in to be inspired by his journey and learn how you too can make a difference.
